Memories of Dan Hartman
Jerry King Musser, shot the cover photo for "It Hurts To Be In Love" also produced the video to Dan's single "Heaven In Your Arms". Jerry was one of Dan's best friends through high school in Harrisburg.
When Danny began
his solo career I did a few things for him. I did the photograph on his album
"It Hurts To Be In Love"
(it's a close up, the image is tilted, with a lot of grain). I actually can't
remember the title of the album. Also, I did a "music video" for one
of his songs long before MTV. Also, I noticed some images of some old 45's on
the Angel site which I shot of the Legends (embarrassingly bad, I must admit...Danny
was working for the government then and had to wear a fake mustache which looks
quite funny in those photos).
In our own ways, we were exploring who we were back then. Ultimately, Danny
made it big and I went on to doing a lot of work in independent film and design
(I've worked on some vids for Golden Earring as well). But, everyone knew Danny
would make it big.
I still get very angry when I think of the loss of such a talented and sweet,
giving person as Danny. It's a damn shame. I try hard not to think too much
about it.
Alas, I can't remember any photos I have of Danny from that period. All I have
is what's already known of the very old Legends things. And about all I have
left of Danny is a stage costume glove he gave me once on a visit to his first
home in Westport (pre-Schoolhouse).

I was organizing some old documents this holiday break and came across an old yearbook when Danny and I were at Edison Junior High School together.
I've scanned part of the page with Danny's photo showing where he signed it for me. We would have both been 15 at the time.
